Meet Our 2026 Interns

At Cressey, we believe great communities are built by great people.

This summer, we welcomed interns from across different academic backgrounds, each bringing fresh perspectives, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.

Meet two of our 2026 interns, Thomas Rode and Skyler Fane, and hear about the experiences that shaped their summer at Cressey.

Skyler Fane

Property & Operations Intern
Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Political Science & Psychology, Queen's University

Skyler joined Cressey with an interest in property operations and a desire to better understand what goes into delivering an exceptional resident experience.

Throughout her internship, she worked alongside teams across our business, gaining exposure to the many moving parts involved in operating and maintaining a residential portfolio.

"My time at Cressey certainly shaped how I tackle issues," says Skyler. "It taught me to look at new and opposing perspectives in every situation, from problem-solving with vendors to assisting tenants."

One of the highlights of Skyler's summer was supporting portfolio-wide fire safety initiatives across British Columbia and Alberta. Her work included updating fire safety plans and helping coordinate enhancements to existing safety measures across multiple buildings.

"On my last day, it was really rewarding to move the final box onto the truck and know the role I played this summer was going to have a lasting impact," says Skyler.

Thomas Rode

Finance & Accounting Intern, Income Producing Properties (IPP)
Bachelor of Commerce (Finance), McGill University

For Thomas, an internship at Cressey offered the chance to combine his interests in finance and real estate development, while learning from experienced professionals in the industry.

Over the course of the summer, he gained firsthand exposure to the financial side of operating and managing real estate assets. One of his most impactful projects involved supporting the budgeting process for several income-producing properties, providing insight into the planning and decision-making that helps drive long-term asset performance.

"Rather than just looking at numbers on a spreadsheet, I learned how budgeting impacts decision-making, long-term planning, and the overall performance of a property," says Thomas.

The experience helped Thomas connect classroom concepts with real-world applications, while broadening his understanding of how teams across an organization work together to achieve shared goals.

Investing in Future Leaders

While Thomas and Skyler worked in different areas, their experiences share a common theme of hands-on learning and the opportunity to contribute to projects that make a real difference.
