Joe Robillard is a carpenter with Cressey who’s known not just for his craftsmanship on site, but for his curiosity and willingness to get involved. Whether he’s helping deliver a complex build or leading a yoga class after hours, Joe brings energy and initiative to everything he does.
We recently caught up with him to hear more about his time at Cressey.
What do you enjoy most about working at Cressey?
The people. I really enjoy the crew especially the superintendents and my bosses. It’s a place where I feel supported, and where I get to learn every single day. That kind of growth is what keeps me excited about coming to work.
Is there a project that’s been especially meaningful to you?
Definitely the Bellevue project in West Vancouver. It was a lot of fun, but it also came with a lot of responsibility. I learned so much there, and I’ve carried those lessons with me into every project since.
We’ve heard you’re also leading yoga classes after hours at Century. How did that start?
Yeah! I completed my yoga teacher training last year, and when I came to the Century site, I mentioned it to the team. They were really open to the idea, and there is a small yoga studio on-site. Now I teach classes Monday and Friday evenings. It’s a great way to unwind, and it’s honestly something I really enjoy.
That sounds like a unique addition to your day-to-day. How do you think that fits into the bigger picture of life at Cressey?
To me, it shows that Cressey really supports the people who work here. Whether it’s through learning opportunities or something more personal like yoga, they’re open to new ideas and encourage us to bring our whole selves to work.
